The council accepted the motion to set boundaries for this Tax Increment Area (TIA) in East Chelan, in order to fund water utility infrastructure projects.
The district is working with Spokane-based ALSC Architects on a study and survey of their facilities, along with a facilities plan detailing short-term and long-term goals.
City Administrator Wade Farris emphasizes that this new district would not raise property taxes, but would capitalize on increased investment within that area.
Volunteers are being asked to bring their own reusable trash bags to help clean up trash at the main beach near downtown Chelan, as well as two other high traffic beach areas.
