The Wenatchee Wild were one of the last eight teams standing in the British Columbia Hockey League postseason, but the Penticton Vees will be the team continuing its quest for the Fred Page Cup after their Interior Conference semifinal meeting Wednesday at Town Toyota Center.

For most of Tuesday’s British Columbia Hockey League playoff game at Town Toyota Center, the Wenatchee Wild played as well or better than their visitors from Penticton. The first nine-and-a-half minutes, however, made just enough of a difference for the Vees, getting three goals over nine shots in that span to push past the Wild for a 3-1 victory. The win sent Penticton ahead three games to none in the best-of-seven Interior Conference semifinal round, setting up a must-win Game 4 for the Wild on Wednesday night.

The Wenatchee Wild earned a 4-2 victory over the Cranbrook Bucks on Easter Sunday at Town Toyota Center, taking their Interior Conference quarterfinal series four games to two and closing out the campaign for the second-seeded Bucks.

The Cranbrook Bucks forced their British Columbia Hockey League Interior Conference quarterfinal series back to Wenatchee with a 4-2 victory at Western Financial Place. The Wild will face the Bucks one final time on home ice, with a seventh game set for Tuesday in Cranbrook if necessary.
