A new term for you, “Fart Walk”. Don’t tell anyone, just do it.
OK, back in the day we used to call it crop dusting. You'd be walking down the hallway at work, minding your own business, and all of a sudden, oops. You just keep on walking.
It almost sounds like a dance. “Come on now, do the fart walk”. No, it is exactly what it sounds like.
According to axios.com,
‘Going on a "fart walk" after eating can be good for your health — something you may want to keep in mind if you plan to attend a Thanksgiving feast this week.
Why it matters: Walking after a meal gets your bowels moving, which can reduce bloating and acid reflux, and potentially help prevent Type 2 diabetes, according to experts at the University of Washington.’
Just to put this into context, a few years ago I had to have my gallbladder removed. You don't want to hear the whole story, but one of the things that I thought was the most humorous about it was in post op, one of the things that the doc and the nurses were concerned about was whether or not I was passing gas. They wanted me to keep those farts “a coming”. (It was not a problem.)
Most experts agree that walking after a meal is a good thing, even for 5 or 6 minutes. Anything to get your heart rate up just a little bit and to help things settle down. If you have a lot of fiber in your diet, it's even more important to get a walk in to help things settle down and let that gas escape. (Best to take that walk outdoors though.)
Sometimes when you're walking it feels like you're propane powered. There's a little “poot” with every step. (Ohh come on, you know you've done it.)
Have a great Thanksgiving, and after the meal, don't just gas out on the couch.
Go take a fart walk. Your family will thank you.
